Terms & conditions

1. What Rolling Mechanics is

Rolling Mechanics is an introduction and booking service. We match customers who need mobile vehicle repairs, diagnostics, servicing or related work with independent self-employed mechanics (“the mechanic”). We do not carry out repairs ourselves and we are not a garage or motor vehicle repair company. “Rolling Mechanics” is a trading name of Symatec Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, and references to “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company.

2. Your contract is with the mechanic

When you accept a quote or allow a mechanic to start work, you enter into a direct contract with that mechanic, not with Rolling Mechanics. The mechanic is responsible for diagnosing the fault, agreeing the scope of work, supplying any parts (unless agreed otherwise), carrying out the work safely and to a proper standard, and for their own tax, insurance and compliance with the law.

You pay the mechanic directly for their labour, diagnostics, parts and any other charges they quote. Rolling Mechanics does not collect or process payment for the mechanic’s work and does not become a party to the repair contract. If we communicate an expected price to you, we are simply passing on the mechanic’s quote or estimate on their behalf.

3. No responsibility for the work

Rolling Mechanics does not guarantee any work carried out by a mechanic and accepts no liability for any repairs, diagnostics, servicing, parts, advice or any other services provided by the mechanic. Any claim relating to workmanship, parts, damage, delay, loss or negligence must be directed to the mechanic who carried out the work.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rolling Mechanics is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the work carried out by a mechanic, including but not limited to vehicle damage, lost earnings, injury or third-party claims.

4. Quotes, payment and parts

Any quote or estimate for labour, diagnostics, parts or repairs is provided by the mechanic, not by Rolling Mechanics. Prices may change if additional faults are found, but the mechanic should explain this and obtain your agreement before proceeding.

Rolling Mechanics does not collect or process payment for the mechanic’s labour, diagnostics, parts, repairs or other automotive work. You pay the mechanic directly for those charges.

Separately, Rolling Mechanics charges its own booking/introduction fee to arrange and secure the mechanic. This fee is calculated and communicated by Rolling Mechanics after speaking to the mechanic about the requested job. It is a fee for our introduction and booking service and is not a deposit against, or deduction from, the mechanic’s invoice.

If Rolling Mechanics sends you a payment link, it is only for our own booking/introduction fee unless we clearly state otherwise. Payment links are processed by third-party providers and are subject to their terms.

5. Before the mechanic leaves

You must inspect the work, test the vehicle where safe to do so, and raise any concerns with the mechanic before they leave. Once the mechanic has left the site and payment has been made, it is much harder to resolve disputes. Rolling Mechanics cannot mediate or enforce any remedy after the job is complete.

6. Cancellation

You may cancel or reschedule a booking by calling or messaging us as soon as possible. If a mechanic is already on the way or has arrived, you may still be charged a call-out or diagnostic fee at the mechanic’s discretion.

The Rolling Mechanics booking/introduction fee may be retained only to the extent permitted by law and to reflect the booking and introduction services we have already provided. If Rolling Mechanics cannot arrange the booked mechanic or attendance, the Rolling Mechanics booking fee should be refunded.

Where you ask us to begin the booking service during any applicable cancellation period, we may begin immediately at your request. Any deduction or refund will then be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

7. Complaints

If you have a complaint about a mechanic’s work, please contact the mechanic in the first instance. You can also tell Rolling Mechanics so we can remove unreliable mechanics from our network, but we cannot issue refunds for the mechanic’s charges, order reworks, or accept legal responsibility for the mechanic’s actions. Any refund or remedy for labour, parts, diagnostics or repairs must be sought from the mechanic directly.

8. Your data, GDPR and privacy

Rolling Mechanics is the data controller for the personal information you provide through this website, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email. We process personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

  • Name and contact details — so we and the mechanic can identify you, confirm the booking and update you on arrival times.
  • Vehicle details — so the mechanic can prepare the right tools, parts and diagnostics before attending.
  • Location or map pin — so the mechanic can find where your vehicle is.
  • Description of the issue — so the mechanic can diagnose efficiently and quote accurately.
  • Email address — if you create a customer account, to send you a secure magic-link sign-in and to link your job history to your account.
  • Payment information — we do not store card or bank details. Our own booking/introduction fee is paid through a third-party payment-link provider, and that provider handles your payment data under its own privacy policy. You pay the mechanic directly for their labour, parts, diagnostics and other charges.

Lawful basis for processing

We process your data because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract and to perform the introduction/booking service. Where we send marketing or non-essential communications, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

How and where we store your data

Your information is stored securely in our cloud database, hosted in the UK/EU, with industry-standard encryption, access controls and regular backups. Only Rolling Mechanics staff and the mechanic assigned to your job can view the details needed to carry out the work.

Who we share your data with

  • The independent mechanic attending your vehicle.
  • Our payment-link provider, when you pay the Rolling Mechanics booking/introduction fee.
  • IT/hosting providers that run our website and database, under strict data-processing agreements.

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for unrelated marketing purposes.

How long we keep your data

We keep job records, contact details and related messages for as long as they are needed to provide our service, deal with queries or disputes, and meet legal/tax obligations. Typically this is up to seven years after a job is completed, after which the data is securely deleted or anonymised.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, or to ask questions about how we use your data, contact us using the details below.

Cookies and tracking

We use only essential cookies needed to keep the website secure and functional. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute relating to these terms or to Rolling Mechanics’ introduction service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
