1. Who we are
Rolling Mechanics is a trading name of Symatec Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 17217755). Registered office: 3 Tudor House, Old Heath Road, Weybridge, KT13 8TZ. We are the data controller for the personal information you provide through this website, by phone, by WhatsApp or by email, and we process personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Rolling Mechanics is a booking and introduction service — we arrange independent mobile mechanics and do not carry out repairs ourselves.
2. What we collect and why
- Name and contact details — so we and the mechanic can identify you, confirm the booking and update you on arrival times.
- Vehicle details — so the mechanic can prepare the right tools, parts and diagnostics before attending.
- Location or map pin — so the mechanic can find where your vehicle is.
- Description of the issue — so the mechanic can diagnose efficiently and price accurately.
- Email address — if you create a customer account, to send you a secure magic-link sign-in and to link your job history to your account.
- Review content — if you choose to leave a review, the name and comment you submit.
- Payment information — we do not store card or bank details. Our own booking and introduction fee is paid through a third-party payment-link provider, which handles your payment data under its own privacy policy. You pay the mechanic directly for their labour, parts, diagnostics and other charges.
3. Lawful basis for processing
We process your data because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract and to perform our booking and introduction service. Where we send marketing or non-essential communications, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. How and where we store your data
Your information is stored securely in our cloud database, hosted in the UK/EU, with industry-standard encryption, access controls and regular backups. Only Rolling Mechanics staff and the mechanic assigned to your job can view the details needed to carry out the work.
5. Who we share your data with
- The independent mechanic attending your vehicle.
- Our payment-link provider, when you pay the Rolling Mechanics booking and introduction fee.
- IT/hosting and email providers that run our website, database and notifications, under data-processing agreements.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it for unrelated marketing purposes.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep job records, contact details and related messages for as long as they are needed to provide our service, deal with queries or disputes, and meet legal/tax obligations. Typically this is up to seven years after a job is completed, after which the data is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, or to ask questions about how we use your data, email hello@rollingmechanics.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Cookies and tracking
We use only essential cookies and local storage needed to keep the website secure, functional and to keep you signed in to your customer account. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
